Hello !

I have Switch SG200-26P.

Firmware version: 1.1.2.0

Boot Version: 1.1.0.6

Is it possible make upgrade to the latest firmware version 1.4.0.88 directly or I should make intermediate upgrades ?

Should I upgrade Boot Loader and if yes, where I can find it because I saw only Firmware for downloading ?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

I'm sorry but I was reading the answer and I don't think it is correct.

On the SX200, SX300 and SX500 switches, you will need to upgrade the boot code once you get to 1.3.5 otherwise you won't be able to upgrade to the latest firmware afterwards.

The reason for this is that the boot code will modify the flash memory on the device and get it ready for higher firmware versions.

Here is the release notes from 1.3.5:

http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/csbss/sf20x_sg20x/release_notes/R_1-3-5_RN.pdf

Within this document you will find the following information:

Before upgrading to version 1.3.5, the boot loader also needs to be updated. If version 1.3.5 is installed using the original boot loader, the file system will not be upgraded, and in the future the user will not be allowed to upgrade to versions higher than 1.3.5.

I will recommend to step up the upgrade, as follows:

1.3.0.6.2, 1.3.5.58 (and boot code via TFTP), then 1.4.0.88.

I hope this information is helpful.

You need to upgrade to 1.3.5 or 1.3.7 before proceeding to 1.4.0.88.  The boot loader is contained in the zip file when you download 1.4.0.88.  You can go to 1.4.0.88 and update the boot loader in the same session once you are at 1.3.5 or 1.3.7.

I am feeling invisible here ;)  I think my response is correct.  From the 1.4.0 release notes: When upgrading the device from version prior to 1.3.5, you first need to upgrade the device image to image version 1.3.5 or 1.3.7 and the latest boot file

Maybe it was confusing that I said the boot load is contained in 1.4.0.88 zip as it is also contained in the zip file for 1.3.5 and 1.3.7 too.

Yes Brandon, you are absolutely right, your response was right, I was just trying to clarify the issue.

Thank you.
