No Access after Reset SG200

I have a problem with my SG200, maybe more than one.

I tried to update to 1.3.0.59 this morning.  It succeeded and the switch was restarted.  After the restart I could no longer log into the switch.  I tried to reset the switch but it still will not let me log in.  I also tried to log into the switch using the forllowing method but I still cannot log in.  I unpluged everything, held the reset for at least 30 seconds, waited 3 minutes, plugged a computer in and set it up to see the switch.  All worked there and the login page appeared.  It still would not take my login dredentials nor wold it that the default credentials.  I am at a loss.  I has access through the switch but connot configure anything.

Is there something that I can do?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul, please do the following-

  • Disconnect all connections, leaving only power to the switch
  • Hold the reset button for 35 second
  • Use a computer without a wireless connection, statically set the network card to 192.168.1.100 255.255.255.0 with gateway 192.168.1.254
  • Connect this single computer to the switch
  • Attempt to access 192.168.1.254 with user cisco  password cisco

Thanks Tom!  I cannot beleive that I did not think of that combination.  It worked great and I am in again.

If you do not mind another question, is the proper configuration of file saving: save the running to startup and then the startup to backup?

Paul

yes, that would be fine. That would result in backing up the configuration file the switch would normally boot up with.

Thanks again for the quick response and I must apologize for not proofreading my original question before posting.  The grammer/speilling was horrendous.

Have a great day.
