I am trying to setup a NSS3000 Cisco NAS device.
No matter how i set it up (Raid 0,1,5 jbod) and no matter how the share is configured, i cannot see it in windows!
Im hoping a firmware upgrade (or downgrade) will get it working but i cannot find any firmware anywhere as this is now a discontinued Cisco product.
Does anyone have firmware for this device that theyd share or any advise about why i cannot see or access the share would be greately apppricated

- Do you have any logs on the NSS or Windows (eventvwr) to get insights ?
+ You say you can not see the share in Windows : what happens if you try to access a share manually
as in CMD>\\NS3000\share\dir\file (change this example accordingly of course)

>...I cant get access at all using \\sharename
- What error do you get when trying ?

Don't recall exactly but the usual windows error you'd get if you tried to access a share that didn't exist. Ie if you misspelt the share name

- For troubleshooting the exact error is always important,

fair enough -- error is...
"Windows cannot access \\nas - check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve the netowork problems, click Diagnose"

- It looks the NSS isn't advertising anything on the network , I don't have detailed knowledge on it ; here are some hints : - check if you can ping it
- check status LEDs on the NSS
- Use web interface , look at status and NAS configuration ,
