Problem getting SFPs to work

I got two C1300-12XS which i try to connect to each other via 10GB SFPs. The link wont come up between them.

However if i plug in the same SFP and fiber cable to other equipment on one of the sides the link comes up without issue (tried to link from c1300 to dell n1548, fortigate, cbs350). Its just when i connect C1300-12XS to C1300-12XS the link wont come up.

Since it works to other equipment it tells me that the SFPs and fiber cable are good and working.

I cant find any way to troubleshoot this in C1300 or any command that i need to enter to get these links to work.

Any ideas?

Dear fredrikhan

check the compatibility list for your C1300-12XS.

Try manually configuring the interfaces on both C1300-12XS devices for 10G full-duplex operation

Ensure that both devices are set to use compatible link-layer settings

Look at the logs on both devices to see if there are any error messages

Ensure that both C1300-12XS devices are running the latest stable firmware

Hi there,
did you find a solution for this issue?
I got nearly the same issue, just for me its to connect four C1300-48P-4X to a C1300-24XS. Each with 2 fibre links, so 8 in total.
When i plug in the fibre cable its like a 50% chance that the link comes up. If the link does not come up i can remove the fibre module and reinsert it directly with the cable in it. then the link comes up. Like this I can get all 8 links up, but as soon as i reboot the C1300-24XS only a random amount of links come back up again...
Last test was with all switches in factory default and its the same behaviour. Firmware is the latest 4.1.6.54.
Anybody maybe has any tips?

Hey!

Yes we did after ALOT of troubleshooting. Tried to get some support from cisco TAC but since we used non-cisco SFPs we got 0 help.

The SFPs need to show up in "show inventory" with the exact name as stated in their compatibility matrix: https://tmgmatrix.cisco.com/?npid=6706

Otherwise you get this flaky links which you describe, we had the same issue.

In our case FS.com SFPs have worked 100% and they do come up after a power cycle.

Hi fredrikhan,
Thank you for the fast reply. So as we use non-cisco SFPs too, I guess I can close that case I opened with them yesteday...
We are using SFP-10G-SR Modules, and they are shown with the correct PID. I tested BlueOptics and 10GTek so far, both with that flaky behaviour, but only on the C1300-24XS. Connecting two C1300-48P-4X works fine.
I ll gonna get some FS.com SFPs, hope they work for for me too.

EDIT:
Seems the new SFP modules from FS are working fine, got no problems with them so far.
