SG 200-50P Firmware Upgrade

Hello,

I'm new to this forum.

A customer has a quite old SG 200-50P switch. FW is 1.0.0.9. At the moment I don't have physical access to it.

First question (quite silly): can you confirm that this model doesn't have a console port?

Second question: I understood that I have to upgrade to 1.3.5 boot code via TFTP first, then upgrade to 1.3.5 fw, then upgrade to the lastest fw version. Is my understanding correct?

I read that this upgrade will change the file system. I'm quite afraid of this, due the fact that I can't find a console port.....

Any suggestiion, link ecc. is wellcome.

Daniele

Hello again,

You could try enabling telnet:

https://supportforums.cisco.com/t5/small-business-switches/enabling-telnet-on-the-sg200-50fp/td-p/2610959

Failing that you could use the webGUI, which I guess is their intention by disabling SSH/telent by default!

cheers,

Seb.

Hi Daniele,

You are correct the SG200-50P does not have a console port. All adminsitration is done via webGUI or SSH CLI.

The filesystem upgrade is part of the the boot file upgrade and is a routine step.

I recently documented the upgrade path steps via CLI here:

https://configif.wordpress.com/2017/08/03/cisco-200-300-and-500-series-pre-v1-3-5-upgrade-procedure-via-cli/

cheers,

Seb.

Hello Seb,

thanks for your help!

The switch refuses ssh conncection. I've searched for a way to enable it, but no luck.

I thinks there is no CLI. I can't understand if a fw version problem or what.

Thanks again!

Daniele
