Is a SG102-24 the same exact switch as a SG 102-24? The difference is the space after the SG on the label. We have to follow copy exactly guidelines and our customers seem to have a problem with the SG 102-24 (space between the SG and 102-24 so we are wondering inf this is just a label printing error/change or does this signify even a small form, fit or function change.

hi george
normally device models are differentiated with more visible signs than "space" in model name. I think there is no difference or at least it shouldn't be there any. If you look on SG 100 data sheet you will see only one SG model with "102-24" in list.
The second thing is PID (Product ID) and VID (Version ID) tags which you can compare between both your units (they are a part of label on switch ship-box). If they are same, then switches are definitely same.
If VID differs (V01 vs. V02) then you have switches with different hardware versions, but normally both versions have provide same set of functionalities.
PID (product ID) should not differ between switches, because they are based on location/country basis. Like for your switch there are following product variances available:
their difference could based on regulations per each country (2-char code in PID) where cisco wanted to sell them. So if you have both switches from same seller/reseller, they should have same PID.
Anyway

could you please be more specific? What is the problem with them (SG 102-24)? SG100 series switches are not manageable so I only suspect performance/incompatibility issues.
And lastly: if you realize that PID and VID are same between both units but you still observe issue with one unit, please ask for unit replacement.

Thank you for the very good and thorough answer. I suspected the space was irrelevant and I was able to confirm from the source the unit was not faulty, just a concern for the labels not matching. This extra information will provide additional clarification to bridge the gap.
