Hello, I just recently bought the SG200-08 and was wondering if/when there is another firmware update coming soon for the switch I purchased. I've noticed there is no SSL which i can't fathom why Cisco decided to not have that included on the switch. I also would like to be able to setup SNMP on the switch but from what I can tell it can't hook up to a server which is what i need. I would like to know if these are coming features to the SG200-08 or if i just need to buy a new switch which I'd rather not have to do.
Thanks for your time,
karlribble

Hello,
The SG200-08 is the small brother on the 200 series of switches and as such it doesn't have all the features contained on all the other switched on the series. This device doesn't have support for a SSL server or a external SNMP server, but any other model on the series does.
Here is the administration guide for the SG200 series switches which shows the SNMP and SSL server configuration:
http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/csbss/sf20x_sg20x/administration_guide/Cisco_200Sx_v1_4_AG.pdf?mdfid=284617349
Also, here is a link to an online emulator for another SG200 so that you can see all the features:
http://www.cisco.com/assets/sol/sb/SG200_Emulators/SG200_Emulator_v1-2-9/config/home_SG_200-50P_1_2_9.htm
As of this moment, there is no information stating that this features will be included in a new firmware version.

I also just bought this switch. If the switch doesn't not support SNMP, then Cisco is falsely advertising it as supporting SNMP. The datasheet for the SG 200-08 clearly states SNMP support. Now I cannot use this switch. Bummer.

Hello,
The SG200-08 does support an small implementation of SNMP, it is called RMON and it will show you information about some supported counters.
Here is a link it the admin guide:
http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/csbss/sg200/administration_guide/78-19562.pdf
If you look for SNMP then you will find what is supported, the feature is called RMON.
As explained before, besides this switch, all the other switches on the SG200 series support the normal implementation of SNMP.

And yet Cisco makes no distinction between the SG200 series on their website. The SG200-08 is listed as supporting SNMP like all other models.
RMON is only a tiny fraction of SNMP and supporting SNMP means responding to queries on port 161/10161. In other words, by claiming that the SG200-08 supports SNMP, Cisco engages in deceitful marketing.
And now I own a useless device - the SG200-08.

If the SG200-08 only supports RMON, why does the spec sheet (http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/small-business-100-series-unmanaged-switches/data_sheet_c78-634369.html) for SG200 (which covers the SG200-08 as some specs such as dimensions, power consumption etc. are listed separately) have a full MIB list without any exclusion for the SG200-08 (like there is for 10k jumbo frames where SG200-08 only has 9k jumbo frames)?
SNMP support was one of my hard requirements (along with Gig ports, VLANs), and the reason I bought this switch was because the spec sheet listed SNMP support.
