Hopefully someone on here may have some insight on this. I was given a SG200 26P switch. I plug it in and the system light just blinks at me. Now I know that this means it's using it's default IP address but none of the ports light up or will operate. So searching around I found a video where a guy fixes this issue on a SG300. Basically upon boot, it "Forgets" it's info and using the console you can input the MAC address, version and serial number and it then pretty much repairs itself. Ok sounds easy. The SG200 does not have a console port. So before making this thing a door stop, I take the case off and see there is a cutout in the case that would be for the console connector. And I also see right there a 10 pin connection at the mainboard. So I dig around and grab the cable and connector from an old switch, plug it into the board and then to my laptop in efforts to see if I can achieve a console connection. After trying every baud rate and anything else I can think of, I just get garbage on the terminal screen. I really hate to just call it quits on this if I can fix it. Any suggestions????

Good Morning,
The first step to follow is process a factory reset holding the reset button for 30 seconds and then allow a few minutes to the switch to boot, if this doesn't work then you will have to process a hard reset:
1)hold reset button for 30 second, the disconnect the power cord
2)continue holding until you reach 60 second and reconnect the power
3) hold for the last 30 seconds for a total of 90 seconds
If after this is not working the switch could have a hardware/software failure and you the unit needs to be replace
Regards.

I have tried the 30 second hold but I will try your idea when I get home. Thank you much. I'll let you know how it goes.
