We have this 48 port switch in our engineering department, and it basically stopped passing network traffic.
When connecting to the Console port and power cycling the switch, this is what I see:
Image Loader 1.0.1
Loading Diagnostic Image File : SRW224G4P_SRW248G4P_boot.bix
Diagnostic 1.0.1
User Mode
--- Performing Power-On Self Tests (POST) ---

UART Loopback Test ........... PASS
POE UART Loopback Test ....... PASS
DRAM Test .................... PASS
Timer Test ................... PASS
Done All Pass.
------------------ DONE ---------------------
(!)Loader Binary checksum error
<ERR> Runtime Loading Fail - System Halt.
This error obviously doesn't look "normal".
When pressing CTRL-U, I get the following screen:

I've tried to update the "SRW224G4P_SRW248G4P_image_v1310.bix" file using Xmodem download, but since I really wasn't sure how to use this boot loader tool, I haven't been successful at doing that, nor do I even know if that's the solution for the problem that I'm having.

I'm guessing that I'll need to contact Cisco tech support, although at least through their web site, they make that nearly impossible to accomplish.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what may have happened to our switch and what I should do to recover? Of course we're about to start a time-critical round of product testing, and without this switch, I'm dead in the water. And it's not like we have a spare 48-port PoE switch lying around.

Hi Jeff, you're on the right track I think. If you load the switch firmware through xmodem it should fix the problem providing the firmware loads correctly.
The firmware you can use depends on your boot code, here is a small table.
1.2.2a is 1.0.6 boot code.
1.2.2b is 1.0.1 boot code.
1.2.3.0 is 1.0.2 boot code
It looks like you're using 1.0.1 boot code so the 1.2.2b firmware should be for you.

Tom - Thank you for your reply. From what you're describing I may have been using the wrong firmware to try to resolve this problem. The file that I'd downloaded from cisco.com was SRW224G4P_SRW248G4P_image_v1310.bix, which I'd guess is version 1.3.10 given your number formatting.
I ended up spending about 3 hours chatting online with a Cisco tech support person yesterday, who unfortunately never suggested anything like your recommended solution. In the end, after asking me a series of questions, and going back and talking to others in Cisco, he recommended that we return the switch for replacement. Since I was in a hurry to get it back up and running, I shipped it back yesterday to hopefully get a replacement shipped out today. Therefore, I no longer have the switch in my possession to try this other solution.
As an engineer, I'd love to have tried this solution to see if it worked, although I'm also not sure of the root cause of the corruption within the switch in the first place, and how to be certain that it won't happen again.
This switch was on a wall, running happily for several years without so much as a power cycle to interrupt it's operation, so other than a potential power glitch, I can't identify what may have triggered it's failure.

Hello,
I got the same issue. After downloading and uploading the firmware, I got the following result and all LED on the switch are glowing. Could you please help on this issue? Where can I find the right firmware. I also have Image loader 1.0.1.

All I got now after restarting the switch is:

Hi Jeff,
Did you ever fixed this issue? (!)Loader Binary checksum error -
I have same situation on SRW248G4P switch. What is the difference between an .IBX and .ROS files they are both listed under firmware catagory.
I am trying to XMODEM the new files but no success.

The issue is resolved, but because Cisco issued an RMA and replaced it. I really don't have answers to any of the other questions, but I found the online chat feature with Cisco techs in India to work well.
