10G SFP+ modules reporting error levels

I have some 10G SPF+ modules installed that currently have no connections on them; but they are perpetually complaining of inadequate levels.  Is this to be expected?  The 1G ones never did that.

Note that when they ARE actually connected to something, the error message goes away.

*Oct 25 20:15:58.262: %SFF8472-5-THRESHOLD_VIOLATION: Te1/5: Rx power low alarm; Operating value: -40.0 dBm, Threshold value: -18.4 dBm.
*Oct 25 20:16:18.286: %SFF8472-5-THRESHOLD_VIOLATION: Te1/7: Rx power low alarm; Operating value: -40.0 dBm, Threshold value: -18.4 dBm.

Oct 31 13:28:56.173 utc: %SFF8472-5-THRESHOLD_VIOLATION: Te3/3: Rx power low alarm; Operating value: -40.0 dBm, Threshold value: -18.4 dBm.
Oct 31 13:29:01.887 utc: %SFF8472-5-THRESHOLD_VIOLATION: Te4/3: Rx power low alarm; Operating value: -40.0 dBm, Threshold value: -18.4 dBm.

(This on a 4506E or 4507E-R supervisor 8E )

Is there a way to mask these errors, other than setting the system logging level "too high" ?

If the ports are not connected to anything you could "shutdown" them until you connect them to something...
