10g switch or 1g

Hi,

Kindly suggest a switch which can support approx. 300 concurrent users who will access application server and 12 TB NAS thru intranet. Total users would be1500

Customer has asked for a 10G switch, kindly confirm do customer require a 10g switch or not

Hello,

From the information you provide, I would go with the sentence "the bigger, the better" if the customer afford. The idea about network throughput doesn't limit to only this device. You can have a 10G switch here, but have bottleneck somewhere else in the network, due to a low-end switch which cannot support all this load.

I know it's not too helpful, maybe somebody here can help you more, or you can provide more details.

Gee whiz.  This is a tall order.  Do you have any other information?  8, 12, 24 or 48 port?  PoE or non-PoE?  Chassis-based or not?
