Hi All,

I'm looking for configuration help, on a 1921 Router. I am trying to enable PoE on a EHWIC-D8ESGP, switch module on the router. I've upgrade the IOS from 15.2, to 15.4, but no luck there. There is no enable power options on the switch ports.

Hi,

Look at this link:-
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/access/interfaces/software/feature/guide/geshwic_cfg.pdf

Firstly - If you have inserted the module OIR then the POE may not work.
You need to reload the router to allow the card to function correctly.

The config should be

!
int gx/y
power inline auto
!
end

show power inline
show power inline actual

Hi Alex,

Thank you for your prompt response. No sure what you mean by "inserted the module OIR"

I've powered off the router, removed the module. Power the router up, did a "sh inventory" and confirmed the module doesn't show up. Shut the router down inserted the module. Powered it back up, and confirmed that it is there. Tried to enable power, but no power options listed for configuring any interfaces.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks again.

Deena

Alex, thank you for the link you provided.

I'm starting to suspect that the power inline never, command may have been issued on this router, which as the documents indicates turns of permanently disables inline power. Is there a way to determine if this command has been issued, and if there is a way to reverse it?

Thank you for any assistance.

Cheers

Deena

Hi Deena,

For a 1921 you need an additional POE PSU "PWR-1900-POE"
to provide POE functionality.

The "no power inline never" interface command should do the trick
