2511 access router - Configuring AUI ethernet issues :(

Setting up a 2511 access router for some of my console connections. Should be a fairly simple install...but...

My ethernet 0 interface which is connected via a aui transceiver keeps going up down.

I have tried connecting it to a switch and also directly to my laptop and same issue.

If I disable the keepalive, the interface stays up but I am still unable to ping it.

Any ideas ?

When you connect to your PC are you using a straight thru cable or a cross over cable? From 2511 to PC would need cross over cable.

I would say to set your PC network adapter speed to 10MB when you connect it directly and see how it goes,

It could be a negotiation problem.

Its not the cross over cable, same issue when using it.

I have also tried to hard code the ports to 10meg and still no go.

Also turned issued the no keepalive option on the router interface. That keeps the port up

but no connectivity.

At this point I am suspecting its either the AUi txcvr or the router itself.

I have a new txcr coming and we'll go from there.
