Hi,
I am just starting out in CCNA so forgive me if I have done something really stupid here. I bought some older routers for a lab I have built and currently at the core is my 2801 with HWIC-4ESW in slots 1 and 3. Slot 0 is only for VWIC's and SLOT 2 is using a standard 2T serial WIC.
Now when I plug devices into the 4 port switch on slot 1, I can route traffic and DHCP pool I setup works well. When I plug the same device into any port on the 4ESW in slot 3. I can see traffic stats going up and the interfaces comes up.
But I cannot get any traffic to route over any of these 4 fastethernet ports in SLOT3.
I have swapped the 4ESW between slot 1 and slot 3 and the same issue continues. I have even swapped out the router for another 2801 and still have the same issue.
I have read the documentation on Cisco and it makes no mention about slot3 except that it only supports HWIC's.
Initially I created a single vlan 100 and applied a IP address to this and then set all the switch ports on both cards in slot 1 and slot 3 to "switchport access vlan 100".
So I thought it maybe something to do with my VLAN and created another VLAN and applied it only to the fastethernet ports on SLOT 3. But again the same issue persists.
Can someone tell me if there is something I am doing wrong here? I have attached my config for this router.
Thanks for any help here.
Andy

The issue is that when you use two switch modules in the same chassis they must be connected via crossover cable to provide a stacking environment and perhaps the switches need to have an optional expansion card
