2940 Baud Rate issue

Whenever I reboot a 2940 I have a problem with the console speed resetting to 115200. A show run reveals:

line con 0

logging synchronous

speed 115200

When I change the speed to 9600 and copy run start it shows this in the startup:

line con 0

logging synchronous

However, upon reboot it goes right back to 115200.

Any ideas on why this might be occurring?

Keith

Try falling back to ROMMON by pressing the mode button after a reboot. Then, set BAUD 9600 . Boot. Let me know if this works .

Hi Keith,

Complete the below steps in order to speed up the Xmodem recovery:

Set the baud rate to 115200 on the switch: prompt.
switch#set BAUD 115200

!−−− The screen goes blank after you enter this command.

Restart HyperTerminal.

1. Under COM PORT properties, select the bits per second as 115200. The switch: prompt is
    displayed.
2. Start the Xmodem recovery.
3. After the Xmodem recovery, set the BAUD rate back to 9600.

Hope this helpes you...

Hi Keith,

This is a known issue on this platform and is due to hardware fault. You can try the following and see if it works for you:

Break the switch into rommon and set the BAUD rate there.

rommon> set BAUD 9600

rommon> sync

rommon> reset

If this does not work, only resolution to this problem is hardware replacement.

HTH,

Shashank

Ok, thanks I've already tried to set the baud rate in ROMMON but i get a vb:: permission denied error. I've never seen that one either. I'll just get a replacement. Thanks for all the replies.
