2960 Direct communication between them is not possible !!!!!

Two 2960s are directly connected by UTP.

However, 2960 ping can not be done.

Attach the configuration below.

1_2960>

interface GigabitEthernet0/43
  switchport access vlan 318
  switchport mode access

interface Vlan318
  ip address 172.26.18.5 255.255.255.0

2_2960>

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/24
  switchport access vlan 318
  switchport mode access

interface Vlan318
  ip address 172.26.18.8 255.255.255.0

CDP neighbor information is normal.

I attach the whole Config below.

Hi
you should be able to arp in same vlan , what does the show mac and show arp for both interfaces show you , if there incomplete ping wont happen as layer 2 not working at MAC level

also could be local firewall on the devices your pinning from blocking ping , some string AVs will block pings , turn it off as a test

sh ip arp tenGigabitEthernet x/x/x

sh mac address-table interface tenGigabitEthernetx/x/x

also make sure STP is FWD for vlan 318 on  the trunk link
sh spanning-tree vlan 318
