Hi, I'm looking for some advice relating to a firmware update I just attempted.
Switch: WS-C2960-48TC-S
Existing Firmware:15.2(2)E6
New Firmware:15.2(2)E7
Downloaded file:c2960-lanlitek9-tar.152-2.E7.tar
I'm not a Cisco expert and I've always used the web GUI.
I processed a software update from the GUI which involved browsing for the file, uploading it and letting the switch do it's thing.
Afterwards, I connected to the switch and was presented with an HTML Page I was unfamiliar with. One of the options on the page is "Web Console. Manage the switch through the web interface". When I click this, I get a 404 error.
So I'd suggest the update didn't work, or the switch didn't restart. I'm reluctant to restart it at this stage, as it is in use - just in case it doesn't boot up again.
One of the options on the html "Switch Home Page" is "Monitor the router" - which takes me to http://ip.ip.ip.iplevel/15/exec/- and gives me the ability to type in commands. Here's what I've found...
Command base-URL was: /level/15/exec/- Complete URL was:/level/15/exec/-/sho/version/CR Command was: sho version

Any help you can offer to assist me in getting the firmware correctly updated and the web GUI back is very greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Thank you for your response Leo, but you are incorrect.
Lan Lite is the correct firmware for this switch...

WS-C2960-48TC-S | LAN Lite Entry Layer 2 |
I updated another switch with the same firmware and it is fine. This firmware was the one recommended in the Cisco support area for this switch model.

There is no option on the switch to set the time and date. The switch is a 2016 model - so the time and date are incorrect. I've attached the output in a txt file as it is too large to paste here.

If not, downgrade to 15.0(2)SE train and see if there's any improvements.

With the switch in this current state, I have no idea how to do anything with it.
The switch came with 15.2(2)E6 installed. The recommended version by cisco is the one I jut tried to install.
I only know how to use the web interface - but this is now broken.
I need to know how to update the firmware correctly and get back the web interface. Before, when using the browser I could upload the firmware file - but now it is broken I don't know what to do. This is the problem I am asking about.
You ask me to switch to a different firmware but I don't have any knowledge to do that. That's why I posted this topic.
Can you help?

I'm 27 minutes into that video and still so far have not seen any instructions. This is very painful. Nothing in that video looks like, or equates to the situation I am in right now. I'm sorry but it is entirely unhelpful.
As mentioned, I'm at an unfamiliar plain HTML page when logging into the switch in my browser, the uploaded tar file with the ios image appears to be there. I seem to be able to enter commands on that interface but I have no option to upload a new tar file, or any knowledge about how to install the one that is there. I don't have telnet access to the switch.
Is there perhaps anyone else who has a better understanding of my situation that can assist me?

The Release Notes of every IOS version also contains instruction(s) on how to upgrade the IOS of a switch.
