2960 Stack switch power down

Hi

I got 2x 2960 in a stack which has an uplink to another stack and there is no manual switch priority is set. Its a full L2 switch and I dont really mind which switch is master. I want to change the power cable to different PDU. I believe I can do the below but just want to double check.

* Save the config.

* pull the power cable from the member switch and connect to the new PDU and check that switch came back online.

* pull the power cable from another switch and connect to the new PDU and check the switch came back online.

I do have spare switches pre-configured in case this switch(s) doesnt come back online.

Sounds okay.

Thank you.

I got a spare switch with all config on including vlan database, snmp config etc.. In a stack the configs are same for both switches except the port config. If switch 1 fails and if i replace the spare switch (with all config including vlan database, snmp config etc) it should be ok or the spare switch should only have the interface config?

I don't know how alike a 2960 stack is to a 3750 stack, but in the latter, each stack member keeps a copy of the whole stack config.

If a stack member (again 3750) fails, and if the new to be added stack member was configured with (I recall) the stack number of the failed unit, and configured to accept a running stack's config, as soon as the stack member joined the stack, it "became" a clone of the failed switch.  (Besides having the proper config in the switch being added, it also had to be the same exact model.)

Again, unsure a 2960 stack has the same capability, but if it does, it makes it easy to replace a failed stack member with a like replacement stack member.
