2960-x BOOT FAILED after upgrade

I have two 2960-x switches that I attempted to upgrade from 15.2(2)E5 to 15.2(4)E6.

The new version extracts, the switch reloads, flash initializes, the bootloader looks for a new version, finds 15.2(4r)E3, completes the upgrade, reloads, then I get a scrolling repeat of BOOT FAIL

I pulled the power and restarted, and the switch hangs almost immediately at:

CPU rev: B
Image passed digital signature verification
Board rev: 5
Testing DataBus...
Testing AddressBus...
Testing Memory from 0x00000000 to 0x1fffffff.../

Press & holding mode while powering up doesn't do anything.

Anything I can do to recovery these?

Any way to upgrade my other switches without this issue?

thanks

It appears that you have a hardware failure.  Open a ticket with TAC.  You may need to RMA it.

hi, did u resolve this issue? i have the same problem

Yes, switch turned out to be fake. Cisco was nasty about it. They wouldn’t even tell me how they could tell it was fake. They did not care that the vendor claimed to be an authorized reseller. The reseller even uses a name slightly different than a real authorized vendor to fool people. The vendor was going to send me a replacement, but Cisco contacted them and threatened them and the vendor called me and said that if they had any further contact with me it would be worse for them. I get it, but Cisco handled it horribly. I spent just under $1M with them over the last 3 years and this is how they treat me. I buy in large quantities from a large well known vendor but when I need 1 switch quickly I’ve purchased from various places online because I can get it in a day vs 3 weeks. They simply do not care and literally told me that. Good luck to you...
