Hello everyone
I have some questions:
1. I connect a 2960S to another cisco 2960(old 100M ones) using a GLC-T . Altough old 2960 interface start to work (green led) , no connection stablished !
I did the same with a new 2960G rather old 2960. It works but Led on Sfp+ port of 2960s is still off!
Something makes me confused! What kind of cable do you use to connect to switch using uplink ports on both ( uplink to uplink). Is used both cross and straight for old 2960 but nothing happend!

Hello,
for the GLC--T you need a straight Cat5 cable, the same for the RJ-45 portion of the dual purpose uplink ports on the 2960G. Try and set the 'media-type' on the dual purpose ports to whatever you are connecting...
--> Sorry, the 2960S obviously does not have dual purpose uplink ports. Either way, a sraight Cat5 is required.

Glc-T works with all Categories. We currently use them eith Cat7 ! Because we are not going to use external media convertor to convert fiber to copper.
The most important of question is :
why GLC-T work but LED is off!?
I changed GLC-T and port. I also use another 2960S but noting changed

Yes GLC-Ts work with any cat5/6/7 , could be the software might be the led hardware , the important part I would of thought is its working and the uplink has formed correctly and there is no errors on either end , are you auto or hardest for speed and duplex and is it same both ends ?
I have attached your hardware guide you can check what the advise there is few things to check
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2960/hardware/installation/guide_stack/2960SHIG/HGTRBL.html
Observe the port status LED:
The LED turns green when the SFP transceiver and the target device have an established link.
The LED turns amber while STP discovers the network topology and searches for loops. This process takes about 30 seconds, and then the LED turns green.
If the LED is off, the target device might not be turned on, there might be a cable problem, or there might be a problem with the adapter installed in the target device. Refer to the Troubleshooting section of your switch hardware guide for solutions to cabling problems.
Reconfigure and reboot the target device if necessary.
Something makes me confused! What kind of cable do you use to connect to switch using uplink ports on both ( uplink to uplink). Is used both cross and straight for old 2960 but nothing happend!
This shouldn't really matter anymore as all newer switches support MDIX can use both straight through or crossover the switch will work it out

Thank you all
I checked Cisco compatibility matrix for gigabit transceiver. GLC-T is not compatible with 2960S-48FPS-L ! Of course we are not going to use them together and it was just a test. We will use GLC-T with 2960x-48FPD-L or FPS-L which are compatible.
Notice : Check compatibility matrix before ordering your device and modules .
