Can the Ws-x6148-45af be upgrade to fully power the 1252 AP?

Hi Jermaine,
The WS-X6148-45AF can only support up to 16800 milliwatts if you are using SXH2 and the 1252 AP with two (2) modules AP needs will need 20W for full functionality.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/interface/command/reference/ir_o1.html#wp1014591
Power Draw section
AP1250 with two RM1252 radio modules installed: 18.5W
AP1250 with one RM1252 radio module installed: 12.95W
Note: For a 1250 Series Access Point with two radios, 18.5W is the maximum power required at the access point (powered device). When deployed using PoE, the power drawn from the power sourcing equipment will be higher by some amount dependent on the length of the interconnecting cable. This additional power may be as high as 1.5W, bringing the total system power draw (access point + cabling) to 20W. A similar consideration applies for a 1250 Series Access Point with one radio.

jerry

Jerry is there an updated blade forn the 6509E?

Hi Jermaine,
I am not aware of the support of 20W POE for the 6500E at this point. Do you have the 6500E in the closet? I've used 3750E to support the 1252 AP before, and it works pretty well.

About 2 dozen of them :)

Hi Jermaine,
Just found another document referencing your situation. Apprently 16.8W can power up the 1252 and provide full function. Personally, I've never test it.

Depends on the aAP/LWAP IOS.
If you run aAP IOS version 12.4(10b)JDA3 or WLC 5.2.157.0, the firmware of the radios will be upgraded from 0.05.71 to 2.00.22. This will allow the AP to operate with 15.4 kw of power but at a cost of lower MCS rates.
I am using both aAP and LWAP 1250 running on 15.4 kw of power with both radios UP/UP.
Hope this helps.
