Hi
Does anyone know if Cisco 7206VXR router support 32-bit AS number that is running IOS (12.0(32)S1) and what are the implications for networks that are running 16 bit AS number. Your advise would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hello Nav,
there have been other recent threads about 32bit ASN
the answers were that this is not supported in IOS up to now.
I've found in the internet the following
http://www.toonk.nl/blog/?p=345
says 12.0.32SY8 or 12.033S but this should be verified
for change implications see:
http://wiki.icons.apnic.net/display/ASN/Operational+Implications
http://wiki.icons.apnic.net/display/ASN/Using+AS+23456
The subject is really interesting and the start time is since january 1 2009 but full backward compatibility looks like to be assured.
Hope to help
Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe,
Thanks for the feedback. Very interesting topic but Cisco does not have any doc regarding the topic. I have checked the cisco site to verify if IOS 12.0.32SY and 12.0(33)S has support for 32bit AS. However, they have not mentioned anything about the support for 32bit AS on the document. Do you have anything from Cisco that can clarify which IOS support 32bit AS.
