I have a 3560X that I needed to add fiber ports on. I read that the switch supports hot swap network modules. I successfully installed the C3KX-NM-1G network module. I configured the 1st fiber port (GigabitEthernet 1/1) but I am not able to pass any traffic on that port (fiber link is green though). I've tried two different network modules and SFP's. In order to troubleshoot, I grabbed a spare 2960X and used the exact same configuration and it worked fine with that fiber link. I even used the same fiber cable and SFP.
Does anyone know if the switch has to be rebooted for the network module to become operational? Thanks.

Usually for smaller switches (none-chassis switches) the network modules are not hot swapable. So, I would say, have a maintenance window and reboot the switch and hope all works.

Cisco states on their website that the module is hot-swappable. I am just trying to find out if the switch requires a reboot to pass traffic on the ports. That kind of goes against the whole "hot-swappable" functionality. I guess my next step is to get a maintenance window and reboot switch.
Note Although network modules are hot-swappable, we recommend installing a network module before powering the switch.

Just an update...power cycling the switch worked. Upon reboot, the interface and port worked fine. I guess they aren't hot-swappable.
