why reload is required to have the stack working.
Attached are my findings as i am not able to paste the data here.

Stacking port is showing down because you only properly connected one cable.
When you are adding a new switch to a stack, make sure the new switch is POWERED OFF. If you add a a powered up switch to the stack, the entire stack will reboot.

Leo,
Thanks for looking into this. I confirmed you that there is no problem wih the stack cable connection as the same setup worked fine after teh reload.
As said I double verified the cable and connection and all was okay.
I wanted to know the procedure/communication happens when i connect the new switch to the stack:
1- Power off the new switch
2- Connect the cables.
3- Power on the switch.
4- Exisiting switch will try to communicate internally to the new switch through stacking ports?
5- I need to know why I had to restart complete stack to have this work?
thanks in advance.
