Dears,

I have a 3750-X switch with LAN base license, i see the stack ports are down i tried to upgrade the IOS switch but still no luck, how i can know if the cables are faulty, what else are the chances for these port to not come up.when i reload the switch it shows me the below messages but infact the 2 switches doesn't form a stack.

Thanks

Hi

You can execute the command:

sh switch stack-ports

sh switch neighbors

Dears,

I have changed the cables but still the ports are down, how to segregate the problem where it is

thanks

Hi

This link could be useful:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3750/software/troubleshooting/switch_stacks.html#wp39498

If the problem persists it could be faulty stack port or you could open a case with the Cisco TAC.

Hope it is useful

:-)

Dears,

If you'll can see when the switch reloads it checks the stack ports and it founds up and then it says for electing as a master when all this process happen at last it come up only with one switch as seen in below output

oor#reload
Proceed with reload? [confirm]

Hi

Have you replaced the stack cables?

>> Marcar como útil o contestado, si la respuesta resolvió la duda, esto ayuda a futuras consultas de otros miembros de la comunidad. <<

yes from a working stack removed the cable and tested but still the situation same.

That is not a normal behavior, if you still have contract you could open ticket with the TAC, one of  the stack ports could be the cause.

>> Marcar como útil o contestado, si la respuesta resolvió la duda, esto ayuda a futuras consultas de otros miembros de la comunidad. <<

now the question is which switch stack ports are faulty how i can know them ?? i have a stack of 2 switches.

thanks

Hi,

When the stack ports are down, usually there is physical issue and not IOS related.  Check to make sure the stack cables are inserted into the slots all the way. Also, make sure the screws are tighten.

HTH

Hi ,

Mostly it  could be due to stack cable or stack port issue on switch . Most of the time remove and refix the stack cable properly will fix this issue .

Otherwise try swap known working stack cable and switches to narrow down further.

Also you can use " show switch details" command to identify stack port, neigbhbor and switch role details.

I recall (?) LAN base will only stack with LAN base.  Both switches have the same IOS version, same image, and same license?
