I don't know about memory blocks being shared by groups of ports, wouldn't think so, but believe groups of ports share access to the 32 Gbps fabric and ASICs, so you might improve performance by wider distribution of your busy ports.
Memory allocations, if QoS enabled, are shared by all ports in the same queue set, so busy ports might benefit from being in a different queue set where memory can be allocated differently.
