3750X upgrading and licensing

Hi folks!

We are currently using several Cisco 3750X switches running on different IOS versions.

I need to upgrade these systems to a new IOS version, however the newest firmware is only available as "universal" image.

Some of the switches are running an ipbase image with ipbase feature set enabled and ipbase license in the  built-in license storage.

Will this license still be available after upgrade (to the universal image) so the switches can run on the ipbase feature set again?

Also when running the command sh license feature what is the difference between ClearAllowed and RightToUse?

Thanks in advance!

Regards

 Lasford

Hello,

indeed the ipbase license is available and you just need to activate it (as described in the previous post). What is your current output of 'show license feature' ?

Hello,

the universal image contains all images, you just need to activate them and accept the EULA. So, once you have installed the universal image, you use the sequence below to activate the ipbase feature set:

1. license right-to-use activate ipbase / acceptEULA

2. reload

ClearAllowed means you can clear a previous software licensee.g.:

Switch#license clear ipservices

Thank you for your reply Georg!

So does this mean that the same ipbase license that is currently in use will persist and thus still be available after upgrading?

If a RightToUse flag says "no" (when running cmd  "show license feature") does this mean that I can not activate that feature set like you mentioned in your reply?
