3850 corrupt flash: reformat?

Hi all, I couldn't find any quick answers from Google, re: formatting flash: on a 3850.  The only things that jump out are in reference to formatting usbflash0:  I found that 3.06.03 had a bug that would corrupt flash, when booting from packages.conf (I think that was the bug...) so we've been trying to revive a problematic 3850.  So, we were able to boot from usbflash0: then format flash: to FAT32, then copy the 3.06.04 os to flash:  I couldn't find reference to what an internal flash: should be formatted as, so can anyone chime in with advice?  We're about to do a "boot system switch all flash:<os>" and see if it reloads successfully...

So we couldn't reformat flash: from that rommon style "switch:" prompt on our 3850.  We had to boot an OS from usbflash0: and after successful boot from usbflash0: we were then able to successfully reformat flash: to FAT32--again, we had to reformat flash: from a working switch with a successfully booted OS--then we were able to copy the 3.06.04 OS from usbflash0: to flash:, run "boot system switch all flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.04.E.152-2.E4.bin" and we've successfully rebooted a couple times as well as yanked the power cable and successfully booted back up.  I think we're good.
