I have configured a lot of 3750 stacks but just a few 3850 stacks. I currently have about 30 3850s switches (various models) to configure so a created a test stack to speed up the process of testing them (refurbished units) and putting the same code and a test config on all of them. I put universal code load 16.03.07 on all them using a usb flash and that went well and quickly. I created a stack and was able to configure about 20 fairly quickly putting them into the stack, pulling them out and verifying they booted correctly on their own and had the test configuration still on them. I have a stack configuration for 7 switches provisioned the various model types I have (all same feature set - ipbase in this case). NOW HERE IS MY ISSUE---I have 5 switches that will not hold the config once I take them out of the stack and reboot them.Example...switch 1 is my main test switch (priority 15) and I add a 48U (provisioned properly as switch 7) to the stack and only those two are in the stack. I let the stack come up with just the 1st switch, wait til its up, then add the new switch...which should be switch 7 based on my provisioning type. Switch 7 does join the stack, comes ready and everything looks fine and it shows as being ready.and a member of the stack. If I kill power, pull this switch 7 out and reboot it by itself, it comes up without the config (but still shows himself as a single switch -- and as switch number 7 to be precise) but there is no config except a default and my config settings are all gone...switch name is the basic name "switch" and not my hostname. Even if I copy my config from flash to the running config, save it using write mem or copy run to startup-config, when I reboot this switch the config is not there....setting config-register to 0x102 makes no difference. What am I missing here? same model types, code load and ipbase just like the others I have that all worked without an issue. Any help is appreciated. I know the switch will work in the stack but I can't stack these units knowing this issue is present with these units - it will come back to bite me. THANKS . units showing this failing symptom are models 12x48u and 48u Hopefully it is something dumb that I am overlooking.

problem solved....apparently a know bug and I had to apply a command ...no switch ignore startupconfig etc....on the stacks....not sure why it only affects some switches...allows the config register to be changed.
