4500 OIR swap with same module - configuration?

Hi,

I know the OIR/configuration behaviors on a 6500, but e.g. there is no "module config-remove" on 4500.

So what really happens with the corresponding module configuration on a 4500, if I replace a line card with another similar line card?

- When I remove a module: does the module configuration basically stay in the running-config? (I don't think so because ther is no "module config-remove" command)

- When I insert a new similar module: is the module configuration really preserved in running-config?

Thanks for any hint!

Hello!

If I understand this right, you would like to know if replacing an old module with a newer module (of same model) would result in a loss of configuration for ports of that slot.

You should be able to insert a newer module into the same slot without the need of re-configuring the ports as long as the newer module is of the same model as the previous one.

HTH.

Cheers!
