Hello, I have Cisco 4500x with empty sfp slots. I have a gigabit sfp module I need to install into the currently empty spot.
I'm looking for the correct procedure to insert this new module.
All of the documentation I find gives steps about the proper removal of a module.
What if there is no removal, only an insertion of a new module? Just put in and wait for the switch to detect, show up in config, and then configure?
Is it that simple or am I missing a step??

Its that simple OIR allows you to add /emove modules from a chassis without causing any downtime to other modules or switch itself , just slide in it make sure you have aligned it correctly it should slide in easily

That should be fine for insertion of a module, but note that for removal specifically on a 4500X switch, the Configuration Guide states this:
You must initiate an uplink module removal procedure on a WS-4500X-32 (the Catalyst 4500-X Series Switch) either through a CLI (below) or through the OIR button on the front panel of the uplink.
Note: Unscheduled uplink module removal is not supported because the C4KX-NM-8 module has hardware communication lines to the baseboard that cannot be unplugged in an online state. Communication must be stopped first.
Before removing the uplink module, you must press the OIR button for 5 seconds, and wait for the OIR LED to turn Green. Removing a module without pressing the OIR button causes the system to reboot to ROMMON with the following console error message:
Kernel panic - not syncing: Removing a module from switch causes instability.
Note: No special steps are needed for insertion.
