Unfortunately there is no such command available to check backplane
utilization on this platform. There was bug that was open for the same issue
- Need a CLI command to display backplane traffic in CAT4xxx
IOS. The
Bug is closed as this is a feature enhancement that we
do not have the resources to implement at this point.
You can use other commands on this platform to measure or troubleshoot
performance relate issues:
- show platform <-- Various sub commands to check various sub systems
- show processes cpu <-- Used to see current CPU utilization
- show interface <-- Used to check for input/output drops and any other interface errors.
- show memory <-- Used to check free/used memory
You can also refer to the master datasheet link for Cisco Catalyst 4500
Series Switches (includes supervisor and line modules) for more performance
specific information. These links also provides chart would give you the
comparison between supervisors and their backplane utilization performance:

Hope this helps.

Since the 4500 series chassis and supervisors have known maximum values of bandwidth per slot (6, 24 or 48 GB/slot), the aggregate bandwidth for all the ports on a single line card would indicate the bandwidth utilization being used for that slot.

You are likely hitting the following bugs
CSCee30742
===========
Need an SNMP Object for monitoring the following in Catalyst 4000s (IOS):
- Backplane utilization (total)
- L2 Fwd Low
CSCdy14666.
===========
There was an enhancement request filed before on having such a function on cat4k, but bug was closed
due to amount of resource required.
However, the Catalyst 4000 (IOS) does not support CISCO-STACK-MIB.
Therefore, it is not possible to monitor backplane utilization on the Cat4000 IOS via SNMP.
can you try show platform chassis & show system commands
For the Layer 2 Drops, the information is already available via the CLI 'show platform cpupacketman' or 'show platform cpu packet driver' commands
Hope this helps.
