I am going to deploy a 4506 in a wiring closet. I already have a 4506 running the Sup V engine in the MDF. Do I have to have a sup engine in the switch in the wiring closet also or just in the MDF?

Yes all chassis based switches need a supervisor , they are the brains and what does the switching of packets.

Can the Sup engine in the wiring closet be different from the MDF? In the MDF we are running Sup V can the closet have a Sup II?
