4507R Hardware Ordering

Hello guys,

I have a question, I am new at this design / ordering stuff, and wonder to know if there is any tool that can validate my order, like the parts I am ordering will work togheter... there is?!

We are planning to install a customer using a 4507R at the core, and a collapsed Access / Distribution with a mix of 3750E and 3750, so we can use Uplinks at 10Ge, as suggested by our friends hostmaster, jon.marshall and

specially mr. asingh2!

There will be 2 floors + Core located at the 2nd Floor, here is what I am planning to order:

First Floor:

------------------------------------------------------

2 x Cisco Catalyst 3750E-48TD

- 10Ge Modules: X2-10GB-LR V03 or later (2 pieces)

1 x Cisco Catalyst 3750G-48TS

------------------------------------------------------

Second Floor:

------------------------------------------------------

2 x Cisco Catalyst 3750E-48TD

- 10Ge Modules: X2-10GB-LR V03 or later (2 pieces)

------------------------------------------------------

Core (located at the same as the second floor):

------------------------------------------------------------------

Chassis: WS-C4507R

Supervisor: WS-X4516-10GE= (2 pieces)

10Ge Modules: X2-10GB-LR (4 pieces)

CompactFlash: MEM-C4K-FLD128M (2 pieces)

Netflow: WS-F4531 (1 piece)

Power Supply: PWR-C45-2800ACV (2 pieces)

Gig. Ethernet Module: WS-X4548-GB-RJ45 (1 piece)

S45EK9-12xxxx Catalyst 4500 Enterprise Services Software with 3DES

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Question 1: The Chassis WS-C4507R cames with the Fans already installed? I have not found the part number for the Fans!

Question 2: Will the 10Ge Uplinks work with this hardware config (I suppose so, as it is on the Release Notes of the 3750-E and 4500), and bot are the same: X2-10GB-LR.

Question 3: Any way possible (like a online tool or something) that I can validate this hardware config?

Question 4: Anything missing in this hardware config?

Thanks you so much for your help! Hope to help also as any way I can!

Hi -

Hope this info helps:

Q1. Fans are included w/ the chassis. Power supplies are not

Q2. SUPV-10GE uplink redundancy as of 12.2(25)SG allows for 2 x 10GE and 4 x GigE ports active. The left-most ports are active for example:

tengig1/1 active

tengig2/1 active

tengig1/2 disabled

tengig2/2 disabled

gig1/3 active

gig1/4 active

gig1/5 disabled

gig1/6 disabled

gig2/3 active

gig2/4 active

gig2/5 disabled

gig2/6 disabled

Q3. Please use the Dynamic Configuration Tool:

https://tools.cisco.com/qtc/config/jsp/configureHome.jsp

Q4. What services do you plan to enable? This configuration allows for the ISSU capability:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/switches/ps4324/products_white_paper0900aecd805e6a95.shtml

Buddy! Thanks alot!

For sure all the info you gave me helped ALOT! Really thanks!

But now I am a bit confused about Q2, regarding the tengig slots... I do not know if I missunderstand what you said, but, just to clarify a bit more, it means that I cannot use the 4 ports (2 of the first Sup and 2 of the second Sup) at the same time?! I can only use 1 port of each Sup and the other one will be in standby or something like that?! By this I will have 2 tengig working and 2 tengig in standby?

Thanks!

Nevermind... found the answer in the great tool you showed to me!

3. The WS-X4516-10GE can use a maximum of two X2 modules or four SFPs. When two SUPV-10GEs are in the same system, only two X2 modules or four SFPs can be active concurrently.

Thanks alot for your help! Hope to do the same for everybody when I can!

Cheers!

Yes, only the first 10Gig port of each sup is active in a redundant sup config. i.e only the ports 1/1 and 2/1 are active, the other 2 ports 1/2,2/2 are disabled. If one of the sup fails both the 10gig ports will get active on the sup engine.
