Hi everyone,
New to the 4507, can it be used as the core inter vlan router for my network. We are in a collapsed core design with a single 4507 and 10 3560's.
Does this device have a seperate routing processing (msfc) like the sup 720?
Thanks

Yes it can be used as the core switch for inter-vlan routing and in fact often is. You have redundant power supplies, redundant supervisors if you want this + the choice of fibre or copper blades for connectivity.
The major factor in deciding whether it will work for you is throughput. The 4500-E cards and chassis give more throughput per module but if you have high throughput requirements that is where the 6500 becomes the choice. However with 10 3560 switches i think you will be fine with the 4500.

If you are going to use it as a core may sure it has the ipservices image and not the ipbase image . Ipservices gives you all the major routing protocols where ipbase gives you RIP (don't know if anyone uses that anymore) static and I think eigrp stub routing.
