Guys,
I have a 6500 running with WS-6724-SFP fibre gigabit cards
Now, some interfaces show the input queue (when the port is disabled) as 2000 and when enable at 75 as below
GigabitEthernet1/19 is administratively down, line protocol is down (disabled)
Input queue: 0/2000/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
GigabitEthernet1/20 is administratively down, line protocol is down (disabled)
Input queue: 0/2000/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
GigabitEthernet1/21 is administratively down, line protocol is down (disabled)
Input queue: 0/2000/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
GigabitEthernet1/22 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
GigabitEthernet1/23 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
GigabitEthernet1/24 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
GigabitEthernet2/1 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
GigabitEthernet2/2 is administratively down, line protocol is down (disabled)
Input queue: 0/2000/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
GigabitEthernet2/3 is administratively down, line protocol is down (disabled)
Input queue: 0/2000/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
GigabitEthernet2/4 is administratively down, line protocol is down (disabled)
Input queue: 0/2000/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
GigabitEthernet2/5 is administratively down, line protocol is down (disabled)
Input queue: 0/2000/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
GigabitEthernet2/6 is administratively down, line protocol is down (disabled)
Input queue: 0/2000/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
but, on another card where a port-channel is configured, the port channel shows an input-queue of 2000 and the phy interface inherits that input queue???
Port-channel68 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
Input queue: 0/2000/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
Port-channel69 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
Input queue: 0/2000/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
I have not configured any hold-queue commands on my switches? How can this happen?
Many thx, and kind regards,
Ken

the hold queue info on an ethernet (layer 2) port is irrelevant. The queue depth is fixed. Please see the following URL for details regarding the queue depth size of various catalyst 6500 ethernet modules.
