6500 Sup-2T/WS-X6824-SFP-2T: 155-1.SY4 software upgrade

Hello Community,

In the process of upgrade Cisco 6506-E, with the aim of moving from 151-1.SY2 to 155-1.SY4, the supervisors completed the upgrade as expected, however on completion of the upgrade the SPF line Card didn't come online fully.  The SFP card itself still appeared under 'show module' but beyond that there was not much else; no active interfaces, no visibility under 'show interface', etc

Below I have included the output from 'show module', however, there seems to be a slight discrepancy on the line card itself.  Below it is listed as WS-X6824-SFP, but on the physical card there is a label stating 'Factory ID: WS-X6824-SFP-2T'.

Module Output:

Mod Ports Card Type                                                      Model
--- ----- -------------------------------------- ------------------
1    24       CEF720 24 port 1000mb SFP                        WS-X6824-SFP
5    5         Supervisor Engine 2T 10GE w/ CTS (Acti       VS-SUP2T-10G
6    5         Supervisor Engine 2T 10GE w/ CTS (Hot)      VS-SUP2T-10G

Mod Sub-Module                           Model                             Hw
---- --------------------------- ------------------ ----
1      Distributed Forwarding Card   WS-F6K-DFC4-A            2.0
5      Policy Feature Card 4             VS-F6K-PFC4                 2.1
5      CPU Daughterboard               VS-F6K-MSFC5              2.1
6      Policy Feature Card 4             VS-F6K-PFC4                 2.1
6      CPU Daughterboard               VS-F6K-MSFC5              2.1

The upgrade has been rolled back for now.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,

B

Can you elaborate on these observed conditions. Meaning provide output of show interface, and oe  how do you conclude no active interfaces ?

I will repeat the upgrade and update accordingly.

There's nothing I can do unless you go back to 15.5(1)SY4.
When you do the upgrade, plug a console cable in and log everything. This is crucial because it will tell us what is going on.

 - I confirm, you need to scrutinize the boot process for the intended version and look for error messages (e.g.) especially related to the particular module.
