Hello,

I would like to know if there’s any procedure to add or remove modules in a 6509?

Thanks.

If you are adding a module that is not the same as the original one, once it is physically installed in the chassis you want to check for any changes that you may need to make.

for example:

if you are replacing a 48 port module with a 24 port module and you had a device connected to port 48 in the old module, now you need to figure out where on the new 24 port module you are going to connect that device as the new module has only 24 ports and not 48.

Hi,

Make sure you have a good backup of your config.

Also, even though the blades are how swap able. I would still do the change during off hours so there is less impact in case something goes wrong.

Check the module and config after the switch.

Also, have a look at this link for more info:

Hello Reza,

Thanks for your link , in the configuration should I need to do something when I add or remove something?

thanks.

Hi,

As long as you are replacing it with the exact same module as the old one and putting it in the same slot, no need for any config changes.

And if I'm adding new modules that are not the same as the originals?

thanks
