6509-E Sup 720 Redundancy

All,

Can dual sups be configured in load balancing mode? Here's the issue:

We just received our 6509-E today. We noticed that there are 2 SFP slots on the sups and one copper slot. We would like (if possible) to use the SFP slots for fiber connections that we have, so that's question 1. Can we use those slots for that?

The 2nd question is on the sup 720. Can it be configured to load balance when there are dual cards, or is it for failover only? That takes me back to question 1 for the fiber modules so we could use all 4 slots between the 2 sups if needed.

Thanks!

John

Hi John,

Amit :] Yes, you can use the SFP slots for fibr connection for uplinking or connecting the switches together.

The 2nd question is on the sup 720. Can it be configured to load  balance when there are dual cards, or is it for failover only? That  takes me back to question 1 for the fiber modules so we could use all 4  slots between the 2 sups if needed.

Amit:] Yes you can use all the 4 SFP ports as uplinks or connectivity. The sup's donot work in a load-balancing fashion, all the uplinks can be active but only Active sup does the traffic forwarding.

Thanks guys! Is there a configuration guide that's available for the sups?
