Hi Shivaji,
Did you enable CEF ? IP Multicast Routing is done in hardware on the 6500s.
Did you enable PIM in all Vlans ? What mode did you select ? sparse or dense ?
Error Message MCAST-4-MET_THRESHOLD_EXCEEDED: Multicast Expansion table has exceeded
[dec]% of its capacity and is reaching its maximum
Explanation This message indicates that the number of entries in the Multicast Expansion Table
exceeds 98 percent of the possible number of entries in the table.
Recommended Action No action is required. If the Multicast Expansion Table reaches its maximum
capacity, the software will forward multicast routes and outgoing interfaces that do not have space
in the hardware.

Hi Sandeep,
I have enabled CEF.
PIM is inabled on around 12 vlans out of 100 with dense mode.
What i wonder is, I have two core switches running in HSRP and this erros is displayed only on one (Standby switch)
Why so?
Can i find out which device is sending excessive multicast traffic?
