Hello,

I'm new to a 871 Router.

I have just got the router and are trying to set it up. With the router i got the SDM 2.2 which I, according to the documentation , just should start and then choose "First time router setup" but when i have to choose my router type then 871 is not listed.

Does any one know which router i should choose from the list ?. The default is 831,836 or 837.

thanks,

Jan -

Something is not "right" with that message, open IE to http://10.10.10.1, and SDM Express will take you from there, you may have old instructions for CRWS (used with 830's).

Best is to login to CCO, and download SDM 2.3, which was released the other day, install the FULL (not Express) SDM 2.3 to the PC ONLY (not enough room on FLASH), launch the full SDM 2.3 by using IE to http://10.10.10.1 - and you should be fine from there.

Thank,

That got me started. I ran through the SDM Express but when i now try to start SDM from the Express i get a IE page showing the following:

"Startup Error has not been granted the necessary privileges in order to startup successfully, or another unkown error occurred during the startup. Please close all involved browser windows and try again by granting all requested privilegs"

What am i missing here. Do i need to setup further in SDM Express in order to run the full SDM ?.

Thanks,

Fixed it.

It was a security setting in IE.

Thanks for your help.

Can you tell me what the setting was that fixed this problem? Thanks.

Ok, still a few issues to clean up here, you should not be seeing those sort of messages.

Login to CCO, download the full SDM, and save it to the hard drive.

Go to java.com, make sure you have the latest JAVA client on your system.

Go to WINDOWS UPDATE, ensure that all IE (Internet Explorer) updates are "applied".

Above will probably trigger a "reboot".

Sweep system for SPYWARE and VIRUSES.

Reboot, and make sure you are logged on to the system with Administrator righs or as Administrator.

Then run the full SDM setup that you downloaded and stored to your hard drive.

Try that, and please advise.
