Guess this is continuation of

>>>  https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3339646#3339646

but as it was marked as "ended" ... I want to open a new one.

My Cisco 871w still stops working once a week.

Today I found it frozen, after the weekend, and I have executed few commands from the HyperTerminal ...

The commands were given by cisco coleagues in previous post :

===

show log
show ip int brief
show interfaces counters errors
show interface  FastEthernet1
show interface  FastEthernet1  stat
show interface  FastEthernet1  summary
show interface  FastEthernet1  switching

===

Here are the ouptut of the commands :

So it looks clear to me that it is "Fa1" the interface with problems .....

So I did few displays of this interface :

Well ... I would like to know ...

*) what is "IQD: pkts dropped from input queue" ..... "702.901"

*) what could be the reason for "IQD: pkts dropped from input queue" .....    "702.713"

*) any reason for "46 output errors, 657829 collisions, 2 interface resets ... 550 unknown protocol drops"

Your opinions are welcome !

Sebastian.

I would quit using Fa1 (administratively SHUT) and see what happens.

mr Florin - you mean

a) "Fa1" is already shut down now and that's the reason I have to use another ?

b) you want me to shut "Fa1" and never use it anymore ?

That interface works for 1 week .. then blocks.

I stop Cisco 871w, wait 10 seconds, start it again ... and it works perfect for another week or two.

It does not look to me as a "interface" problem ...

But I will try .... jejeje

Thanks.

Were you able to figure out the cause of the failure?  I am experiencing the same thing on my 871W running 15.1.4M4 which is the latest IOS version available.  It happens about every week for me too so I can collect data if there are more suggestions about what to collect and look at.

The closest thing I've been able to find is already fixed in my IOS version
