Dears
i have currently 2 x 6509 switches on distribution layer in which i have 2 x 48 module sfp modules in each, now i want to propose cat 9500 48y4cl as a distribution switch , so now i will be requiring 4 x 9500, how i can achieve the stack wise virtual means all these 4 can become 1 switch or there is a limitation there it can scale upto two switches only. if it is 2 switches only then how i can achieve the design becz 9400 with chassis are very low in speed and 9600 are very expensive.
One way i can see that split the access layer in half that means half access layer on 2x 9500 virtual stack and another half in another 2 x 9500 virtual stack. From all these 4 x 9500 i will connect to a campus firewall to configure default gateway for access layer.
Also i have an another question of what can be the reason to configure layer 3 routing from the access switches itself anybody can put some shade on this type of design.

Sure it all depends on the requirement, if you have 9600 in the network you can do Collapsed Core right, rather Cat 9500 ? you only going Cat 9500 becoz of costing factor.
The requirement needs to be study correctly and recommend the right product.
Some people use Cat 9600 Collapsed Core - it act as CORE / Aggregation
Cat 9500 / Cat 9600 is recommended to use as CORE or if you like can be Aggregation depends on budget and requirement.
Small organizations deploy Cat 9300 also as core / agg - so it all depends on requirement and cost.

StackWise Virtual means only 2 devices in the Domain, you can create a different domain using 2 in each StackWise virtual.
What you said correct - business cost point of view some model can not meet the requirement, some are more expensive for the business.
So let's look at Cat 9500 replacing old Cat 6509 - the deployment simple and it has a limitation of maximum ports.
so you need to create Geo-based Access switches need to connected parent Cat 9500, that way you can split the exiting stacks of access layer to parent devices.
you need to also have connectivity between these parent devices domain, it all depends on the requirement Layer 2 or Layer 3, both possible,
here is the link give you some information : ( Multiple StackWise Virtual domains)

Dear Balaji
Thanks for the reply,
i would like to have one recommendation from experts on the community if i place 9600 on the distribution layer and 9500 on the core will it be a stupidity, becz 9600 throughput is more than 9500 and somebody can ask me that how can you place core as a lower throughput than a distribution.
what answer can be given here.
thanks
