Is this a true Cisco statemenet?
GRE tunnel encapsulation and deencapsulation for multicast packets are handled by the hardware in PFC3. Each hardware-assisted tunnel must have a unique source. Hardware-assisted tunnels cannot share a source even if the destinations are different.

It's true.

So the unique source address can be any pingable interface and don't have to be a loopback, is that correct?

In our case, we had two WAN links to our routers. Tunnel 0 source is F0/0 (/30) and Tunnel 1 source is F0/1 (/30).
Does this make sense?
