Hi! Well, just month ago we obtained new 5510 SecPlus (we just testing it fro now) and now I read that with ASA 8.2 is recommended 512 MB DRAM and probably we need to purchase memory upgrade kit (available from June).
(1) Have anyone ideas how much it will be cost?
(2) And must we open device for this upgrade? I mean, remove from rack etc.? Probably.
(3) And can't we use flash etc. for this. Probably not.
More thanks, Alar.

Hello,
(1) It'll probably be spendy for the cost usually Cisco's price on simple stuff like flash and memeory is 50 to 200% more than it would cost to get directly from a memory vendor.
(2)Since its a dram upgrade its different than the flash you'll have to open up the box and either replace the existing dram or insert it into a empty socket.
(3)Dram is not the same as Flash.
Hope this Helps.

Hi and thanks!
Well, I hope when I open the box it does not brake any ... gauarantee points!
Also, have anyone any ideas will Kingston DRAM's etc. do the job as well!?
We have testing device and I see that 123MB is taken from 256 already, just one machine behind this box for testing.
More thanks, Alar.

Hi again!
Probably regular Kingston DRAM does the job as well.

You should be able to pop open the Lid look at the existing memory go to kingstons website and compare that memory usings kingstons tools/memory guide to get the appropriate memory that way.
