Best Practices for OIR in a Catalyst 6509E

I need to install new C6800-16P10G modules in a Catalyst 6500 VSS pair (one C6800-16P10G per switch).  Are there any best practices for this activity?

Should I first insert a C6800-16P10G module into the STANDBY switch, perform a failover and then insert a C6800-16P10G module in the new STANDBY (original ACTIVE) switch?

Switches currently each have:

(1) VS-SUP2T-10G

(1) WS-X6824-SFP

(1) WS-X6908-10G

IOS 15.4(1)SY1

Well, although an OIR should be hitless, often it's a good idea to schedule an OIR during a maintenance window, or at least during minimal business usage (just in case something unexpectedly goes wrong).

Although probably a good idea to do the first insert on the standby of the VSS pair, if that goes well, I don't know whether there's a huge benefit of flipping the active VSS member. (It will be interesting to see other posters' comments.)
