boot issue

Bruce Summers

i'm pulling my hair out here...

I upgraded an IOS. I modified the image in which to boot from. bootvar shows the image in which I want to boot from...the image is in the correct directory, confreg is 0x2102, yet everytime i reboot this box (catalyst 6513) it boots to ROMMON...I execute boot, and it boots the image...

i'm obviously missing something here...

can anybody point me in the right direction?

Bruce

SP stands for Switch Processor.

A 6500 will have a RP (Route Processor) and a SP (Switch Processor) on each Supervisor.

Having 0x0 on the SP is what's causing the problem.

Please go ahead with the config-register on the CLI and test with a reboot.

Please post the output from typing

remote command switch show ver

The SP portion must also have 0x2102, if it doesn't - that's your problem.

Go into config mode and change the register to 0x2102 and 'write mem' - then verify the 'remote command..' again.

Edison.

Edison,

there is not standby processor (i'm assuming thats what you mean by SP)...when running the remote command remote switch sho ver however, shows the confreg as 0x0.

do i need to run the config-reg command anyway?

so, when i ran the sho bootvar and it listed 0x2102, is that the RC reporting that?

bruce

Yes.

The Route Processor reports that value.
