Recently i noticed that boot loader image was not upgraded. It shows the previous image in boot loader. My question is why boot loader image was not upgraded along with ios image upgradation?please suggest.

Hi,
The boot loader does not get upgraded every time you upgrade the IOS. It all depends on how old IOS version you had. So in your case 12.2(44) was not a very old IOS version, and when you upgrade to 12.2(53), the boot loader does not necessarily need to be upgraded along with the IOS.

IOS 12.2(50) and later should upgrade your bootloader. The new bootlader version is 12.2(44)SE5 (not to be confused with the IOS version).

Step 1: Install a TFTP Server.
Step 2: Download the Cisco IOS Software Image.
Step 3: Provide TCP/IP Connectivity to the L3 Module.
Step 4: Copy the Image into the Switch Through the TFTP.
Step 5: Set Boot Statement.
Step 6: Reload the Switch.
Step 7: Verify the Upgrade.
