Hi
Can a broadcast storm stops network usage? Our customer has a situation like that. They said that all switches are blinking together and the network was down.
I think a virus has infected couple of pcs and they start to brodcast all together at the same time.
Like this situation what must be the storm-control broadcast level ??
Forgot to add: I use RSTP on all switches. Mostly 2960-24-TC-L
When a broadcast storm happened some pcs showed blue screen of death and Some SAP servers has database connection problem after that (after restarting all switches). Is it a broadcast storm or can it be something else?

1. yes
2. No hard and fast answer. You could start with 1 percent, with an action of shutdown and trap.

you could segregate the infected machines by putting them in an isolated vlan.
For the level of storm control you must do some trial and error or put 0 but then all broadcast will be blocked.
