This 1841 router has a WAN Interface
(WIC-1DSU-T1-V2), two embedded Fast Ethernet Interfaces, and a Four-port 10/100 Ethernet switch interface card.
My question is in regards to the 4-port switch. Is it in its own subnet, separate from the embedded ports?
To manage the switch would I have to connect via one of the 4 ports on the card, or could I connect via one of the embedded interfaces?

you can manage the switch either via the wan or the embedded ports.
If you configure a SVI, then you can manage it throught it as well.
above all console is always there :-)

Should the devices connected to the 4ESW 4-port switch be configured for a subnet that is different than the embedded Ethernet ports?
How would I give an IP address to the 4ESW for management purposes?

Create an SVI and assign an ip address to that as you in any normal L3 switch
int vlan 1
ip address x.x.x.x y.y.y.y
no shut
